Revolutionising Healthcare: A Journey of Peerless Institute of Emergency Medicine & Trauma Care
Emergency medicine in healthcare is an essential discipline. Although emergency medicine globally came into prominence in the 60s, in India, its transformative influence began to be felt in the 1990s. Peerless Hospital and the B.K. Roy Research Centre, being fast adopters, took to emergency medicine and trauma care by instituting the required state-of-the-art infrastructure very quickly.
Equipped with a team of specialised doctors and healthcare professionals, we ensure delivery of the best in healthcare. Peerless Institute of Emergency Medicine, being an integral part of the emergency healthcare delivery mechanism, is working 24/7 to integrate the best practices in the continuously evolving and changing field.
What Makes Peerless Institute of Emergency Medicine Renowned?
The Peerless Institute of Emergency Medicine has earned a stellar reputation for its academic excellence and has set a new benchmark in the Indian healthcare scenario. There are several factors that contribute to its distinguished position. Let's have a look at the essential attributes that add to the lasting eminence of the Peerless Institute.
State-of-the-art facilities
Peerless Institute of Emergency Medicine holds a pioneering position in India and caters to approximately 15000 to 20000 patients annually. Besides, we have transformed our department entirely to ensure top-notch quality of care. In our emergency department, there are 25 beds for patients, and our highly advanced operation theatre is also there to deal with complex cases.
Commitment to continual learning
The Peerless Institute emphasises lifelong learning, and our department is actively associated with a wide range of academic activities, including community CPR training, regular American Heart Association certified BLS, ACLS, PALS courses for doctors, nursing personnel, as well as Emergency Medical Technicians and in-house training of nursing and paramedic staff in basic emergency skills. In addition to this, our three-year Emergency Medicine Residency Training Programme is referred to as Masters in Emergency Medicine in collaboration with George Washington University in the USA. We have been running this programme since 2011, and to date, 100 residents have passed through our institute. Many of our alumni are working successfully in the emergency department of leading hospitals in Kolkata and various other regions of the country.
Panel of experienced doctors
As one of the busier emergency departments in Kolkata, we are setting a new standard in patient care and are ready to meet the challenges of complex cases. Along with the advanced facilities, we have left no stone unturned to onboard the experts in this field. Our department is run by Consultant Emergency Physicians who have had specialist training in the field of Emergency Medicine. This is one of the few departments in Kolkata which has 24-hour consultant coverage in the Emergency Department. At our trauma care unit, there are experienced and highly qualified Neurosurgeons and Neurological consultants who have the capability of dealing with any type of severe trauma within the “golden hour”.
About the Excellence of Peerless Institute
Since 2016, Peerless Institute of Emergency Medicine has been recognised by the National Medical Council as a centre for Diplomate of National Board (DNB – Emergency Medicine), for postgraduate training of Emergency Physicians. On the other hand, we are privileged to be the International Training Centre (ITC) for the American Heart Association and certified providers and instructors in BLS, ACLS and PALS courses.
